Letter from our founder, Catherine Wiley
Grandparents have never been as important in family life, the Church or in society as now. For many families they have become an economic necessity and are crucial in keeping families together.
The main aim of the Catholic Grandparents Association is to support Grandparents in their faith and help them pass on the torch of faith to their Grandchildren.
As so many children these days are growing up in families that are fractured and broken, Grandparents need to be a stabilising force. Often Grandparents have become an irreplaceable source of support, both moral and spiritual.
The Association is about thanking and honouring Grandparents for all they do. Grandparents need affirming, they haven't been told how vital their contribution is.
Within families Grandparents are natural evangelists and they never retire! We realised that meeting just once a year for our Grandparents Pilgrimage was not enough, so we have established a forum where we can meet to share our fears, anxieties, joys prayers and offer support to each other. In todays difficult times groups such as these offer support and encouragement. Grandparents have only one agenda- we simply want the best for our Grandchildren.
Lots of love and prayers, Catherine Wiley
